  • "Yorkshire to Natal in 1850" by D. Jacobsson, with an introduction by Charles D. Don, c1951. 127 pages. (History of the Steel family plus author's own reminiscences of life in Durban and Johannesburg up to c1948)
  • "Memorials of Joseph Pearson of Wortley" by John Stones, published by J.W. Birdsall, Stanningley, Yorkshire, 188-? (MS annotation in pencil on title page reads:"Mrs. Jacobsson, 436 Bradshaw Crescent, Point Road, Durban, Natal, South Africa". There is also a note to the effect that John Stones (the author) was 'Grandma Steel's uncle')
