MS Scope and Content:
The Charles Sprighton collection comprises 31 files, which include correspondence, reports, legal documents and research notes and documents. Most of the documents in the collection pertain to the "Grosvenor", a British East India merchant ship which sank off the Transkei coast on 4 August 1752 while sailing between Ceylon and England. The collection also reflects Mr Sprighton's interest in early man and evolution, as well as his interest in literature and writing.
