- The Campbell Collections will be closed from the 4th - 15th January 2021 and reopen on the 18th January 2021.

The Durban Ningizimu Community Council operated to the south of the city of Durban, and various townships and hostels fell under its jurisdiction, namely Lamontville, Chesterville, Dalton Road Hostel, Jacob Location, S.J. Smith Hostel and Umlazi Glebe Hostel

MS Scope and Content:
The collection comprises of minutes of the meetings of the Ningizimu Community Council - the minutes of meetings No. 11 (July 1980) to No. 69 (July 1985) are contained within the collection. Minutes of meetings no. 13, 15-17, 29, 40 and 60 are missing. File no. 12 contains minutes of the Ningizimu Community Council's Housing Committee and the General Purpose and Finance Committee, which met separately.
The Council meetings reflect a particular concern for the living conditions of the people falling under the Council's control, with issues such as rent, housing, electricity, water and education taking up the majority of the Council's time.
