- The Campbell Collections will be closed from the 4th - 15th January 2021 and reopen on the 18th January 2021.

Arthur Ellis Mallinson came to Natal from Yorkshire, England, and settled in Sydenham near Durban. He became a Senior Prosecutor and married Connie Garbutt. They had two sons George Mallinson and Arthur Eric Mallinson.
Arthur Eric Mallinson served in the First World War in the RAF in 1918, and was a member of the Civilian Protective Services in the Second World War, 1940-1945. He subsequently became the City Valuator and Estates Manager, and retired from his position in 1961.
The Mallinson family was closely connected to the Garbutt and Sparks families, who were also from the Sydenham area and had settled there prior to the arrival of Arthur Ellis Mallinson.

The collection consists of letters to Arthur Eric Mallinson, reminiscences by E.A. Londal, an article in the Natal Mercury c1961, and 40 photographs and two postcards.
